When summer is taking its last few breaths before school takes over the lives of students, most of those students do everything they can to avoid thinking about school and everything that comes with it. However, this year it was a much different story for the members of the school’s FIRST Robotics team, The Spring Konstant. Before school was officially back in session, robotics team members spent their last weekend of summer inside the school, where they played against 19 other robotics teams, all fighting for the first place spot in the DRIP Robotics Competition. Leaving the gym on Aug. 10, The Spring Konstant possessed one more first place award than they did before.
DRIP (Dripping Springs Robotics Invitational Palooza) was an off-season event held by The Spring Konstant as a return to the “Reefscape” game that they had spent the entirety of their 2025 season competing in. After a successful season that culminated in the team qualifying for the World Championship event after winning various State titles, The Spring Konstant returned to the FIRST scene with a different goal. Attending events at various schools and locations across Texas is an extremely rewarding experience for the team, as they get to travel long distances and leave with both new stories and new hardware. However, this time The Spring Konstant decided to try their hand at being the host.
From August 9-10, the competition gym and cafeteria were transformed into a robotic recreation realm. With the main game field set up in the gym, and teams’ workshop pits in the cafeteria, DSHS buzzed with excitement, robots and a competitive spirit. Despite The Spring Konstant being humble hosts, the team came prepared to fight for first place, and fight they did.
The Spring Konstant ended the DRIP event as the first place individual team, a title won from their final ranking points at the end of the qualification matches. Shown by their record of eight wins and two losses throughout the event, The Spring Konstant showed how to be both a prepared host, as well as an award-winning team that shows up ready to win. Despite the air still thick with an unshakable summer spirit, the members of the school’s FIRST Robotics team, The Spring Konstant, showed up to host an event, and along the way couldn’t help but add another drip into their spring of victory.
