The holiday season has arrived and there is no better way to spread cheer than contributing to our community. Whether it’s through a simple act of kindness or a community project, giving back not only benefits others but also enriches our own lives. Here are five fun ways to give back this season:
Project Elf
Project Elf is a community-wide effort that works to provide Christmas gifts to children in need. You can participate by stopping by the counselor’s office and picking an elf-hat-shaped information card off of the Christmas tree. The card will contain the child’s gender, age, size and gift ideas. All gifts are due by Friday, December 6, 2024.
Donating Blood
Donating blood is a great way to support the health of your community without spending any money. Not only does donating blood help save lives but it also reduces the risk of heart attack, lowers the risk of cancer, balances iron levels and improves blood flow.
Holiday Cards
A homemade Holiday card is another great and cheap way to spread happiness within your community. Whether it’s to friends, colleagues, teachers, family or even neighbors, delivering holiday cards is a small gesture that makes a big difference. Getting a group of friends together for a card writing night/decorating night would be a great opportunity for a fun holiday hangout.
Food Drive
DS Helping Hands is working to fight hunger in Dripping Springs. They are asking for non-perishables such as canned foods, dry pasta, ramen, granola bars and chips to help feed the community. There are two drop-off boxes in the school, one in J hall and one by the Tiger Shack. The food drive will be active from December second through the 13th. Feeding the community is a great way to positively impact Dripping Springs by donating resources.
Pay it forward
A free coffee in the morning is bound to make someone smile. A great way to spread joy is by paying for the person behind you in a drive-through line.
